Easy Pro vs. DIY 4th Gen Overview
The Easy Pro and DIY 4th Generation Mini Split collections both take part of MRCOOL's main ductless mini split offerings.
The DIY 4th Generation Series is MRCOOL's primary mini split series, offering a multitude of single-zone and multi-zone systems. The Easy Pro Series on the other hand is intended to be a beginner-level line of products, exclusively offering single-zone mini splits.
For the sake of accuracy, we will only be comparing the single-zone systems of both lines, since the Easy Pro series does not offer options for more than one zone.
The 5 Main Differences
1. BTU Options:
- The DIY 4th Generation Series offers 12K, 18K, 24K, and 36K wall-mount systems, with an additional 18K system using a Ceiling Cassette air handler.
- The Easy Pro Series exclusively offers wall-mount systems in 9K, 12K, 18K, and 24K BTU options.
2. Condenser Efficiency Rating:
- The MRCOOL 4th Generation mini splits offer higher seasonal energy efficiency ratings (SEER) compared to the Easy Pro models. This means that they can heat and cool the same space for less energy and money.
- Take a look at the SEER and SEER2 ratings for these systems:

Which One Should You Get?
While both the DIY 4th Generation Series and the Easy Pro Series offer incredible ductless systems, which one is right for you will depend on your priorities.
If you are looking for better energy efficiency, higher output capacities, resilience to harsher climates, and a more extensive warranty, you will likely be better off with the DIY 4th Generation systems.
If those things don't matter to you and you, instead, prefer a lower upfront cost, ability to cool a very small area, and a shorter line set, then the Easy Pro series mini splits might do the trick.
