MRCOOL Mini Split Warranty: Current Coverage by Series

Updated October 2026. MRCOOL warranty coverage varies by product series. There is no single warranty term that applies to every MRCOOL mini split, so the safest way to evaluate coverage is by the exact series and model you are purchasing.

What does the warranty generally cover?

MRCOOL’s warranties generally cover qualifying failures caused by defects in materials or workmanship during the stated warranty period, subject to the conditions in the applicable warranty document.

Coverage is not the same as a promise to pay every cost associated with a repair. Depending on the series, labor, diagnostic costs, shipping, refrigerant, installation problems, maintenance items, electrical issues, damage, or improper use may be excluded.

Does a DIY system require a professional installation invoice?

MRCOOL’s current support guidance states that a DIY system does not require an installation invoice to initiate a warranty claim. Other product families may require a valid professional-installation invoice. Always keep your proof of purchase and follow the installation requirements for your exact model.

Does registration matter?

Requirements differ by series and by any optional extended replacement or care program. Read the current warranty document for the exact equipment you purchase rather than relying on older forum posts, retailer articles, or previous-generation terms.

Common exclusions to understand

  • Improper installation or operation
  • Normal maintenance
  • Electrical-supply problems
  • Shipping or freight costs where excluded
  • Refrigerant replacement costs where excluded
  • Damage from external causes such as weather, impact, flooding, animals, or vandalism
  • Moving equipment from its original installation location when prohibited by the warranty

Best practice before you buy

Open the warranty document for the exact system you are considering and confirm three things: parts coverage, compressor coverage, and any labor or registration requirements. If you are comparing two MRCOOL series, warranty differences can be meaningful.
